English Longhorn Cattle

The English Longhorn is a beautiful ancient breed. Once a rare breed in England, the Longhorn bordered extinction in the middle years of this century. Although still rather rare the numbers in England have increased.

As of now there are only three known cows on this continent. We are very fortunate to have all three cows residing here at Bayshore Kennel and Farms.

The English Longhorn Society of America is underway in it's development and will be dedicated to preserving this wonderful docile meat breed in this country.

The Longhorn is beyond equal as a suckler cow. Its combination of qualities in terms of milk, calving ease, longevity, docility, length and leanness of body is unrivalled by any other breed.

The English Longhorn is not related to the American or Texas Longhorn of Spanish Ancestry. They have a long history that is linked to the infamous pioneer of the 1700's, Mr. Robert Bakewell.

As you can see the English Longhorn are large lean beef cattle with impressive sweeping horns.
